They have been tested for harmful substances by independent laboratories, and certified not to contain harmful levels of irritants, allergens or carcinogens. Suitable for direct contact with the most sensitive skin, even babies and small children.

There is an important difference between whether a product is Oeko-Tex certified vs Organic certified. For materials to be labeled as certified organic the raw materials must be grown and farmed according to strict guidelines and without petroleum-based fertilizers, pesticides and synthetic products. This is just the first step, however, the next level of certification is Oeko-Tex Standard which is to do with how the raw materials are then processed. This considers factors such as the dye that is used, the sewing threads, linings, and prints. If a product is Oeko-Tex certified it is completely free from harmful chemicals and safe for human use. The testing is reviewed annually and completely voluntary.
